Hello friends! This week's episode of the podcast was about worldbuilding, and our guest Mr. Owen Leo Snook had tons of great advice and insights, so I am just going to dive into the questions and let his advice speak for itself!
Why do you think worldbuilding is such a big part of writing?
"It immerses your readers in the story it helps them see particular elements of the story that you can't necessarily show them through your character or plot on its own,"
Why do you personally love worldbuilding?
"It's the small details that I enjoy because its covering all of those tiny details that I love to lose myself in, and sometimes that can be an issue because I got to far down those rabbit holes,"
Reillys Note: You can add so much lore to your stories via worldbuilding because you get to building stories of the places and the people that are well known within your world
What is your biggest piece of worldbuilding advice?
"Have fun with it? Because if you don't enjoy your story or your world then it will lack so much life that it could have! If you love your world and don't just see it as a chore you can enjoy it so much more and thus help your readers enjoy it"
How would you sum up worldbuilding in one word?
"This is not an easy question, that I was not prepared for, I would have to say though how I would sum it up is "Sculpt" or "To Sculpt" cause that's exactly what you're doing when your worldbuilding because you're building this intricate world from your brain,"
What do you think is the most important part of worldbuilding?
"It depends on the story, high fantasy you focus on culture, si-fi you focus on technology, etc. etc., so it's just looking at what you really need for the story vibe or genre that you're going for"
Reilly's Note: I personally focus on Geography so the "physical" worldbuilding just so that you can know how your world should work based upon its form.
Thats it for this week's episode so we will see you next week! Bye guys!
